HAPPY GALENTINES DAY!

Happy Galantines Day to all my Galantines out there, and that means you!

I'm excited to gift you the 2nd Edition of MY TOP 10 TIPS & TRICKS FOR AGELESS LIVING.  Just click the link. It's free!

This is my second Valentine's Day since my husband died.  So how's that going? 🙄

I got to thinking lately, when someone dies, where does the love go?  Well, for one thing, it doesn't go with your loved one, it stays with you.  That's the good part.  All the love from both of you stays right in your (broken) heart where it belongs and it's up to you how you choose to honor it.  I choose gratitude because the truth is that had I known how it would have ended, had I known that My Mike would only live to be 62, I would have married him anyway.  And I'd do it again and again for a thousand life times.  And that's life isn't it?  Choose the happy and hang on while it lasts and then be grateful that it found it's way to you.

When Mike & I were dating and we had our first Valentines together he told me that he thought it was a dumb Hallmark Holiday.  Something to the effect that he loved me everyday so what's the big deal.  And why should he spend $50 on a box of candy that the next day he could get for half off?  Now, Mike was a very generous guy, not cheap at all, so this wasn't about money, he just didn't get it.  In his defense he was a 40 year old bachelor when I met him, so I chalked it up to lack of experience.  And even if I agreed that it was a Hallmark Holiday attention must be paid!  I mean come on, red hearts are involved!  So we went on to celebrate Valentines Day over the years and a new tradition was born.  Every year on February 15th Mike would come home loaded up with the biggest box of Valentines candy he could find and arms full of silly little love trinkets and proudly declare, like a giant goof ball, that he got them all for 50% off. LOL

HAPPY VALENTINES!

Happy Valentines weekend lovelies!  Today I would like to give you the gift of love and self care.  That's a big part of what love means to me, how we love and nurture ourselves in this fabulous time of our lives.

It's My Top 10 Tips and Tricks For Ageless Living Guide!  And it's chock full of tips and tricks that I hope you will find helpful in raising your vibration to live with optimal health, mind, body and spirit.  It's FREE  and you'll find the link at the end of this post.

This Valentines Day is bitter sweet for me, as some you know, my husband has early on set Alzheimers.  He has no idea that it's Valentines Day, or any other day for that matter.  This makes me think of Valentines Day 2020, before Covid hit that March.  And before his behavior became really wierd and we knew something was very wrong.  Every year we would take a road trip to my in-laws in Arizona and every year we'd say that we'd take more time so we could stop in Sedona for a few days.  But we never did, until 2020.  Finally, on that trip to AZ we decided to make it a longer trip and stay in Sedona for Valentines weekend.  Wow, am I glad we did.  Little did I know it would be our very last trip to Arizona together.  The moral of the story is don't put off those things!  Whether they are with a partner, a friend, or yourself, do the things on your list that you dream of doing, make them happen and check them off as you go.  After all, isn't making memories what life is all about?!  That's a rhetorical question ... YES IT IS!

Here are some random hearts I've encountered in different places over the years.  Love is all around...cue the Mary Tyler Moore theme song...

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY:

Hellooo February, the love month, here we are!  When it comes to your Valentine(s) I hope you're on your own list.  Self love is SO important, it's like putting your oxygen mask on before you can help someone else.  And the more you treat yourself with love and respect the better you will feel and the stronger you will be.  No matter what comes your way, or tries to shake your world, it will be impossible and you will be un-stoppable!  So cheers to the Valentines we love ~ especially ourselves.

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!

Snoopy on a Valentines Day card will forever remind me of my grammar school days at P.S. 169. I would always pick the box of Snoopy cards to give out at school and I'd agonize for days over who to give them to and worry about whether I'd get any in return. If only I could have wrapped that scrawny little insecure girl up in my arms and told her she had nothing to worry about.
Be good to yourself and.....
Don't forget to shower some well deserved love on yourself today and everyday!

Happy Valentines Day

Happy Valentines Day!

OK I admit it, I'm a sucker for Valentines Day!!!  Not so much for the romantic significance Hallmark gives it but just for the plain old fun of putting red XO lights on my fireplace and hearts in the window, not to mention the endless creative ideas and visuals from Instagram, Pinterest, and my fellow bloggers. I love it that my husband buys Valentines candy the day after Valentines Day because it's 50% off.  It makes me laugh that he's so proud of his love bargains. So here's a peek into my Valentine decor and some other ideas. While showering X's and O's on your significant other, your friends, your family, your pets, whoever, don't forget to do something nice for your very first love, YOU!

Love this beautiful Valentine brunch spread featured in my favorite on line magazine, Rue. I love lox but never would have thought of it as a Valentines day idea, perfect!
                 Yummmm
And for those of us sticking to our healthy eating plan, how clever is this!?! (although one cup cake couldn't hurt right?) pinterest
Cheat a little with your homemade Valentines with these adorable Craftaholics Annonymous printables.
How simple and genius is this, just a tweak of your cupcake holders and they're hearts! More on this and Cupcakes on the pinterest cupcake board. Yes there's a cupcake board!

A heart of buttons,  pintereset perfection.
I use mason jars for everything these days and I am loving this idea from the Frugal Girls.
How easy and cute is this homemade card found on pinterest.
Here's a few ideas if you're planning an evening at home, good for all ~ a romantic evening for two, a soiree of friends, a kids night, a Galentine eve or just you.

Stock up on your favorite toppings and create an ice cream bar.
Have a picnic on the floor, play charades with all romantic movie titles, or watch old black and white romantic movies.
Make chocolate covered strawberries, make from scratch or pick up a carton of Dolci Frutta in your local produce section. It's heat and dip, that's it! And they come out perfect every time!
Treat yourself to a hot bubble bath complete with face mask, candles and your favorite book or magazine.  A glass of wine couldn't hurt either.

Sending lots of love your way for Valentines Day and everyday.
