FALL FASHION NEWS:

There's nothing like a closet full of great basics to make getting dressed in the morning a snap. I think Target has out done themselves with this new line called Prologue. The pieces are called 'workwear', it's all mix n' match and every piece is under $50. Chic and affordable. So if you're only moderately obsessed with Target, these pieces may push you over the edge.

Happy Fall Bargain Hunting!

DESIGNER COLLABS:

Designer Collaborations, I'm a fan. And as big a fan of Target as the next girl but I have to say it really annoys me that every time they have a designer collaboration launch they are not prepared. I'm talking about last weeks launch of the Lilly Pulitzer (of Palm Beach fame) for Target line. The collection appeared on line at the stroke of midnight and at 10 passed had already crashed the Target site, as usual. Have they learned nothing from their past launches?

Although I think the line is beautiful, I didn't go line up at Target early Sunday as I'm not really a flashy pink print kinda a gal. So my info is from those I know that did wait on line, forming the usual chatty camaraderie of women that have a common designer bargain bond.  That is until the doors opened and the usual chaos ensured, it was every man for himself!  On line they talked about what they were after, as they had stalked their coveted pieces in advance, but all that planning went out the window as they made a mad dash inside. I wonder if those Target employees have to draw straws and the looser opens the door, and risks being trampled.

Once inside the savvy shoppers grabbed everything in site.  Then came the usual pull your cart into a corner and sort out what you are really going to buy, then after some civilized trading, off to the register. And as if it had never happened, except for the pretty signage, the shelves were empty by 8:15. And now if you want to purchase anything from the collection on line, you'll get the message 'something went wrong' or 'availabe in store only' which of course isn't true. Really, we expect so much more from you Target!
Now for a designer collab that you can actually shop and this one is just too cute!  It's
Milly for Kohls  from designer Michelle Smith whose contemporary brand Milly can be found in stores like Bloomingdale's and Saks with a much heftier price tag. What I love about this line is that the pieces are very true to her designs in her expensive line. Definately worth a look.

Happy Weekend!

TODAY IN THE CLOSET: NEW DESIGNER COLLABS

There's news! Once again some top designers, (and an actress), have felt the need to offer the masses, (that's us), their fashion inspiration.  Halle Berry has revamped an 80 year old french lingerie line called Scandale Paris and turned it into an affordable line of undies for Target. This line is beautiful and with bras selling at $17 it is definitely worth a look!

Alexander Wang for H&M is due to hit stores and their on line site on November 6th.  I was excited when I heard, then I saw the look book preview and, not so excited. If your style is really edgy then this line is definitely for you, it's a very sharp work-out to street look with kind of a space age over tone. As my mother would say, not my cup of tea, but if it's yours, be prepared to wait in line.

Thank goodness my daughter is all grown up because I'd have to staple my wallet shut over this one. Kate and Jack Spade for GapKids! Be still my heart the bow dress in a mini me! Prices from $9.95 - $130. Does it get any cuter?!?

And last but definitely not least, what holiday season would be complete without something extra sparkly, to hold your soy chai perhaps?  Look what's coming...Swarovski for Starbucks!

Fab Finds Friday!

Happy Fab Finds Friday!  It's that time of year again when those unexpected designer collab combinations start to pop up, and it's good for our style and our budgets!  Any Elie Tahari fans out there? OK me! Elie Tahari is a sophisticated designer with a NY urban chic vibe. Typically his dresses sell anywhere from $75 - $300. So it's exciting news that he is the next Designer Collaboration for Kohl's Design Nation. I'm not going to carry on just yet, because I've been pretty disappointed by some of Kohl's previous designer collabs (cough, cough, Peter Som) but I have high hopes for this one, we shall see. Here is a peek at what looks good from the Look Book. The release date is still hush hush but I'm guessing early September, so stand by!

Altuzarra, a brand known for their celebrity clientele and their combination of French sophistication and American ease, is coming to (drum roll please ) TARGET! The line, also debuting this Fall, will have 50 items with prices for clothes and lingerie from $17.99 - $89.99 and shoes and accessories from $29.99 - $79.99. No Look Book has been released for this collection yet however, Noria Morales, Target's director of design partnerships, actually did a big reveal and wore this maxi dress from the collection to the CFDA Awards.

And seriously, Alexander Wang for H & M! Be still my heart! This one is launching on November 6, 2014, so hang on to your wallets until then. No look book yet, but stay tuned, it's going to be good ;)

Happy Hunting!

FAB FINDS FRIDAY:

Happy Fab Finds Friday!  This weeks finds are very eclectic. First these little notebooks. I'm a huge fan of notebooks, big, small, skinny or fat, a girl just can't be without an idea book in her purse. So when I spotted these at Target I saw the pack with Paris on top and thought they were all Paris. So what a fun surprise to find I got Rome and New York as well for a whopping $3.99!
A quick trip down the makeup aisle for a new mascara at Target led me to this great Sonia Kashuk make up brush tumbler, adorbs and only $5.99.
The best wear with anything black pumps, the heel tappers in the back, and they're comfortable making them the perfect black pumps! A bargain at Forever21 for $29.

My Peter Pilotto for Target skirt, I've been obsessed with straight little skirts lately, so easy to wear. $39.99.

Oddly, I have been known to fall over in my closet when putting on my shoes.  May be the rushing around factor. So I decided I needed a seat. I started looking for a round ottoman in all my favorite places, where I'd look for a round ottoman, for the right price, Tjmaxx, Ross, Pier One, World Market, and of course Home Goods.  I had almost given up when I was about to leave Home Goods and decided to walk through the bath department. Found the perfect ottoman which turned out to be a hamper, double duty! It's the perfect hamper and the perfect seat for closet reflecting and putting on shoes.
