ALMOST THANKSGIVING!

Well, it's almost Thanksgiving, my favorite holiday! I'll be sharing my table on Thursday but in the meantime here are some really easy and fun ways to spruce up your home for Thanksgiving. It's not Christmas yet people! Thanksgiving deserves it's own decorations!

Pumpkin dip holder, (I like to insert a small bowl for the dip instead of pouring it directly into the pumpkin.)

Cranberries are great to add fall color in a vase of flowers or around candles like these.

I love grabbing all different kinds of candles and gourds and pumpkins for a rustic look like this one.

TODAY IN THE CLOSET:

Happy Holiday week! We celebrate both Passover and Easter, or as I like to call it EasterOver, it typically looks like this.

You really haven't lived until you've experienced the stomach ache you get from over dosing on this combo!

Passover has the beautiful traditional Seder Plate. The plate contains symbols to remind us of the slavery of the Jews in Egypt. This is kind of the crib notes version. There's a Shank bone of a lamb symbolizing the sacrifice in biblical times. (I grew up with the Lamb Chop puppet so I use a chicken bone.) Haroset is a mix of apples, nuts red wine or grape juice to symbolize the mortar used by the Hebrew Slaves to build Egyptian buildings. Bitter herbs (Horseradish) symbolize the bitterness of slavery, parsley dipped in salt represents the tears of the enslaved Jewish people and a hard boiled egg is on the plate as an offering.

Did you know that the White House has been having a traditional Seder since 2008?

Tonight’s White House Passover dinner will have a new dish at the table: Spokesman Josh Earnest confirmed that the Obamas will use the silver Seder plate that Sara Netanyahu, wife of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, gave to the president last week during his trip to Israel, reports our colleague Juliet Eilperin. ~ Washington Post

TODAY OUTSIDE THE CLOSET:

October, October! I love this month, it's busy, everyone has started decorating for Halloween and Thanksgiving and in most places the weather has turned crisp enough to break out some new fall clothes. Here in LA it finally turned into what we call fall, with mornings and evenings cooling off into the mid 60's. I love waking up with the curtains blowing in a cool breez. Unfortunately by mid-day it's back up into the 80's but does that stop a California girl with a love of fall fashion from wearing tights and boots!?! NO! Well yeah if it's me, because I don't like to sweat when I go out to lunch, but for others, who I admire, I counted 5 women on Friday wearing tights a boots, 5!

To make up for being deprived of fall I visited Rolling Greens on Friday just to get a fix. Their displays are always so intoxicating whatever the season with nooks and crannies full of inspriational ideas. The perfect artist date to kick off the weekend.

Tis' The Season To Be Sparkly!

The idea behind great Holiday style is to pick one special piece that you feel fabulous in and has just the right amount of sparkle.. The beauty of these pieces is that I guarantee you have something in your closet that will go with any of them. A sequin tunic goes great with your old faithful black leggings or black skinny jeans and can be paired with an embellished flat or a heel. Under a sequin blazer your plain black tank top goes from Drab to Fab ! A great look if you're going to a house party that's festive but not too fancy. Same with a sequin skirt or shorts, match then with an understated piece in a complementary solid color. For a big bash out on the town, or a New Year's Eve party at a restaurant or club, opt for a sparkly dress or a bright festive color. And of course the old faithful little black dress in the back of your closet goes from Drab to Fab when you add sparkly jewelry, clutch and shoes.
