FAB FINDS FRIDAY:

Well, well, well, it's Fab Finds Friday!  It's been a long time since I've posted one of these because I have been too busy to shop. Oh the Horror!!!

I happened to stop at Target, for some kitty litter, very glamorous, and there was this handbag just hanging on one of those end caps where they put the items that attract people (me) all by its lonesome, yes the last one. I'm a sucker for a bag with a bow, very Kate Spade-ish. I have admitted here before that I am a purse-a-holic.  It's an emotional pang for me, I see it, I love it, I have to have it.  But I'm no bag snob, I don't care if it's from Gucci or Target, life's too short not to buy the bag, or the shoes, or the...well, you get the picture.

Don't these earrings look totally vintage! They're actually H & M, marked down to $10. The necklace is H & M too, it was $20. Three pieces not to be worn at the same time, by the way, just sayin.

Have a great weekend and Happy Shopping!

TODAY OUTSIDE THE CLOSET:

New York Fashion Week Part II

and - Monday Must Haves - A square Potato Knish!

I've decided to make NYFW a three part-er.  Since fashion week didn't end until Thursday, September 13th, and we had to get back to LA on Sunday I'm still going through pictures and videos so I can bring you a good re-cap of what to expect for Spring 2013.  In the meantime it's fall.  So I hear.  Just not here in Los Angeles where it's still triple digit torture.  I was really hoping for a taste of fall when I was in NY but not only was it hot it was so humid!  I'm spoiled now by dry heat. After a beautiful, but stifling, stroll on the High Line, we had to go back to the hotel so I could ring out my dress and take a cold shower!

My NY has three musts: #1 - a square Potato Knish. Don't feel bad if you don't know what this is.  Just means you're not a New Yorker and/or you're not Jewish.  A square potato knish is crunchy on the outside and soft and potatoeee on the inside. Not to be confused with a round knish as they DO NOT taste the same.  #2 - A pretzel from a street vendor in Central Park. This is a NYC pretzel people, not to be confused with an Aunt Annie's pretzel at the local mall served with sweet dipping sauce.  New Yorker's don't dip their pretzels (although I like mine with mustard, but that's technically not dipping, it's smearing.)

Once I'm fully loaded with theses diet busting gluten laden carbs it's time to head east over to Serendipity to wash it all down with must have #3 - a heaping cup of sugar, AKA their amazing frozen hot chocolate.  Yes, it's a contradiction in terms and you have to taste it to believe it so if you never have, you should. Be prepared to wait.

Don't know why I need these three things every time I'm back in my home town, maybe they remind me of my childhood, maybe it's because I can't get them in CA, or maybe it's just tradition that makes for my perfect NY experience.

Here's my NY in pictures, sans the runway.

TODAY IN THE CLOSET:

Floral Jeans will make an easy transition from summer to fall this season.  If you don't have a pair but are considering them, look for a pair with a dark background like these. They will take you easily into fall. Try them with a colored  pump or paired with a great oxford.

Just happen to wear the same size shoe as my resident Fashion Police AKA FashionLoft8.  Interestingly she picked up this pair of Steve Madden Oxfords and then spotted these look-a-likes at Target. Why not have two colors, more is more, especially when we can share ;) Can you tell which is which?

Oxfords             Jeans

No, we'd never actually go out together in the same pants but it does make for a pretty cute picture don't you think?

TODAY IN THE CLOSET:

Now this is what I call a Friday Find! TARGET & NEIMAN MARCUS TEAM UP!  Seriously, I haven't flipped, come this Christmas, December 1st to be exact,  there will be an unparelled fashion collab the likes of which a fashionable working girl, (getting her bargain on), has never seen before. Target will have officially topped themselves.

24 coveted American Fashion Designers have signed on and both retailers will carry the same merchandise in all of their stores and on line with price points from $7.99 to $499 with most items under $60.

This marketing strategy will not only get high end buyers to know Target better but Neiman Marcus is hoping to break their stodgy image.  That store is so dead you could here a Chanel pin drop.  The two companies are also jointly making a $1 million donation to the Council of Fashion Designers of America. Win win all around.

As for us my pretty little shoppers here's the amazing list of designers who have signed on to make pieces that we will be able to get our polished little hands on at some very budget friendly prices.

The Designers

Alice + Olivia  .  Altuzarra  .  Band of Outsiders  .  Brian Atwood  .  Carolina Herrera  .  Derek Lam  .  Dian von Furstenberg  .  Eddie Borgo  .  Jason Wu  .  Judith Leiber  .   Lela Rose  .  Marchesa  .  Marc Jacobs  .  Oscar de la renta  .  Philip Crangi  .  Prabal Gurung  .  Proenza Schouler  .  Rag & Bone  .  Robert Rodriguez  .  Rodarte  .  Skaist-Taylor  . Thom Browne  .  Tory Burch  .  Tracy Reese  .
And as if seeing the Target logo merged with the Neiman Marcus logo wasn't enough, they merged it with the Tory Burch logo, be still my heart!

Getting your bargain on never looked so good!

I used to believe in the 'less is more' philosophy when it comes to wardrobe and decorating, when in doubt take one thing away.  But when it comes to Arm Candy, forget it!!!  Today it's all about the Bracelets!  All kinds, from big clunky bangles to delicate pearls, bracelets are the most current fashion accessory.  What I love about this look is that no matter how drab your outfit adding a few of these beauties instantly takes your look from drabulous to fabulous.  All shapes and sizes and all budgets are in so pull out all of your old bracelets and try them on in different combinations, you will be surprised at how many looks you can achieve.  And check out these fab choices below.
